Description

Through the years the gowns worn by Christine Daae have been subject to many interpretations, leaving you to let your imagination drift as you create your own version of Christine Daae. It’s probably a nod to how the at times random ballets in the Parisian operas was meant to be eye candy for the wealthy male patrons. I was able to get it altered, and Emily was so helpful in providing a partial refund to cover the alteration costs! which is why the costume doesn't fit the theme: it was something they had backstage and just threw on Christine.

It also has a Little Red Riding Hood connotation, given that she's being stalked by something dangerous. It has been suggested that the corset she wears with the dressing gown is the same corset she wore with her "Think of Me" dress. When we first meet Christine, she is wearing a slave girl costume during the dress rehearsal for the newest opera, Hannibal. The stage productions' "Masquerade" is an actual Masquerade as opposed to the movie which is more of a grand ball than anything; the movie scene destroyed the essence any Masquerade should have; think about Halloween and the atmosphere that creates when people dress up and head out for trick-or-treating and other events.

and transforms onstage (shoutout to amazing cast member Satomi Hofmann, who plays the Wardrobe Mistress) to an opera diva, and then to what I think is her most iconic look (ignore the crown in this picture). When closed it still shows a bit of the collar of the Slavegirl costume underneath, but the gold wristbands and the tiara is removed. In the movie, she doesn't finish changing, so she goes out in a corset with pink details, a pink skirt, and a red velvet cloak. Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. The addition of the cape and the “Little Lotte” red scarf really help me get into the yearning, mourning, emotional place of “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again.
