I don’t know the science of why that whoosh of cold air happens, but having that experience with a group of strangers is really incredible. The mystery to her father’s disappearance as well as the entire plot revolving around Atlantis was amazing. Going to be honest, I liked the Love and Olives premise more than I did Love and Gelato, but I felt like Love and Gelato had better characters and a better plot.

I get the part where the chapters represent the 26 things on Olive’s list but does this story really need 26 chapters? I’m enjoying books set in foreign, exotic countries in the midst of this lockdown and this book sounds like something I would definitely read! I organized this by genre and release date, and I always preface my rounds-up by saying that I will definitely have more 2024 anticipated releases as the year continues and more books are announced ( I see you Fourth Wing 3 👀🤞🏻).I think it’s easy for adults to look down on the relationships we form as teenagers as a simple or small thing, but I think those early [romantic] relationships are important. It was just all so cliche and forced, and and it had all the subtly of a little girl with playing dolls. I blew the ends of my sweaty bangs out of my eyes and attempted yet another ponytail, but my chin-length hair was too short. Central to the story is the mystery of the lost city of Atlantis and the documentary film her father is making on the subject.

I love stories that take me to new places, especially beautiful ones that I would love to visit on my own. From their first meet-cute to them sleeping in the same cramped attic-like setup on separate beds less than a few feet away from each other and breaking into a building to use the pool, it’s clear that Liv and Theo have…some kind of attraction for each other that both of them continue to deny by bringing up Dax right as something is going to happen between the two. Liv is assisting her father with his NatGeo documentary, and Nico Varanakis is an expert on all things Atlantis. Both go by nicknames (Olive becomes Liv, and Carolina becomes Lina), and even these nicknames are pretty similar. He’s feeling more confident in every aspect of his life, and especially with Cirrus, who’s started to become not just his dream girl but also the real deal. The first 200 pages definitely did fly by, with Liv receiving her father’s invitation to Greece and actually getting there, but the story dragged in the middle as Liv and Theo help Nico get the documentary series off the ground.
