He's going through the usual emotions that children of divorce go through: worry, feeling unsure, blaming himself, anger, denial, and then trying to get them to stay together. This book will be very relatable for many children and can spark great discussion with any aged child. This is the kind of book that should have a place in every class, as a teacher will not always know when a child is needing the kind of emotional reassurance it gives.

I think this book could be a very useful in the classroom, and read to nursery or reception children because it deals with such a relevant topic that any of them could experience. Although I think this story focused on parent separation in a nice way, I did feel like the ending was a bit abrupt. Divorce can be one of the trickiest topics for children to understand and communicate their thoughts/feelings. The image of the crack is a sharp tool in showcasing how severe children's guilt towards divorce can be and how massive this change is to their lives. It is really heartwarming at the end, to see him realise that he still means the world to his parents and that he will always be loved by them; despite them no longer being together. He goes on a hunt to try and find some glue to stick them back together but then realises that you cant find glue for the heart.

If children are struggling with this in their own lives this could be used to read with them or suggest a parent read it with their child. This can be used as a conversation started with those children in your class that are going through this tough situation. This was a beautiful, a bit humorous, but also sad book about a boy and his parents who are going to separate. His method for this isn't the usual response though: he looks for glue to stick his mum and dad together.

The child's concept of sticking his parents back together with glue is so down to earth and truly places the reader into the mindset of a young person desperate for his mum and dad to stay together. By telling the story from the perspective of a child, the story creates a sense of longing in the reader and allows them to be swept up in the narrative as if they were in the text themselves.

This is an excellent book that follows a child's journey of coming to accept the separation of his parents. This book is written as a poem and is a lovely way to help children and make them aware of marriage break-ups between their parents and that there are ways of coping and that it will all be alright. This video link is provided to help an adult assess the book's suitability for a child's situation before purchasing it. Essentially, the little boy, who is trying to use an inanimate tool, to fix a very real, tangible problem, comes to find that some things in life you cannot fix. It is important for him to look into the future and see that things will be okay and that they will always love him. This book is really important to share with children whose parents have or are in the process of splitting as well offering a sense of understanding to others. The moral of this story is that it is not anyones fault his parents have fallen out of love with each other, and it doesn't mean they have fallen any less out of love with him. Der kleine Junge in diesem Buch hat ein großes Problem: Seine Eltern sind nicht mehr heile, sie wollen sich trennen und daher braucht er dringend Elternkleber aus dem Bastelladen. Mum and Dad Glue” is an exceptionally well written and beautifully illustrated picture book by the absolutely fantastic Kes Gray. I am glad that the parents talked to him, that the parents made time to make sure he was fine, and that they explained everything to him.
